  • KINE 250 ­ Healthful Living (or approved equivalent) - 4 units
  • SCM 300 ­ Early Field Experience in Math - 2 units*

Quarter One ­ Coursework to be Taken Prior to Beginning Student Teaching
  • EDUC 410 ­ Social Historical and Ethical Perspectives on Teaching and Learning - 4 units
  • EDUC 412 ­ Access to Learning in a Pluralistic Society - 4 units
  • EDUC 414 ­ Curriculum and Inquiry in Public Schools - 4 units
  • MATH 424 ­ Organizing and Teaching Mathematics - 4 units

Quarter Two ­ Coursework to be Taken with 6-unit Student Teaching
  • EDUC 416 ­ Literacy, Language and Culture in the Content Areas - 4 units
  • EDUC 418 ­ Culturally Responsive Teaching in Diverse Classrooms - 4 units
  • EDUC 469 ­ Part-time Student Teaching - 6 units
  • MATH 425 ­ Mathematics Student Teaching Seminar - 1 unit

Quarter Three ­ Coursework to be Taken Along with 12-unit Student Teaching
  • EDUC 479 ­ Full-time Student Teaching - 12 units
  • MATH 425 ­ Mathematics Student Teaching Seminar - 1 unit

Additional Coursework Required for the Preliminary Credential
  • EDUC 480 ­ Computer Based Curriculum ­ LEVEL I - 3 units
  • or
  • MATH 300 - Technology in Mathematics Education - 4 units
  • POLS 112 ­ American & California Government - equivalent or U.S. constitution exam offered by Cuesta College

Recency Policy
"All education prefix coursework used to satisfy credential requirements must be completed within the seven year period preceding the date of application for the credential."

   

*Prior observational and teaching experience in school classroom or courses offered outside the Education Department may serve as a substitute for this course.
