- College-Based Fee Math Workshop Positions Available for
2008-2009
In winter quarter, the Math Department will be accepting applications for workshop
leaders for Math 248, Math 306,
Math 412, and Math 481 for the 2008-2009 academic year. Please note that
these
are the ONLY courses for which the Mathematics Department organizes
workshops; calculus and precalculus workshops are organized by Student
Academic Services, and
you should contact SAS to apply for facilitator positions at the
precalculus and calculus level (see ad below).
The workshops are scheduled in the evenings (two nights per week). The Math 306, Math 412, and Math 481 facilitators
work during Fall Quarter and Winter Quarter. The Math 248 facilitator works all three quarters. Based on past salaries, you will be paid approximately $1950 per quarter, and you receive priority registration for the quarters that you work.
You should have received A's in the classes that you will facilitate, and you should ideally have some experience beyond the course itself. For example, it
is nice if the 306 facilitator has taken Math 481 or 412, and if the Math 412 facilitator has taken the entire sequence Math 412-413-414. Previous
workshop experience in the SAS calculus workshops is also desirable.
Please email Linda Patton indicating which
workshop(s) you would like to teach. The deadline for application is
in April. We will let
you know whether or not you are selected by the end of spring 2008 finals week.
